You,” and many more.
Activity #2: Jobs,
Jobs, Jobs
The activities in this unit will help your students explore
the wide variety of jobs available in various fields and the skills
needed to get those jobs. Plus activities such as “What’s Hot - What’s
Not” will help them understand our changing job market.
Activity #3: Career
Education and Training
Whether your students decide to go straight to work after
high school or go to college, these activities will show them that there
is more than one way to get the education and training they’ll need for
a good career.
Activity #4: Making
Career Choices
These activities will place your students in a variety of
situations that require them to make critical career decisions. By
practicing these decision-making skills, they’ll improve their chances
of finding the career that is right for them and reaching their career
goals.
Activity #5: Payday
These activities will teach your students what they need to
know about those all important paydays. They’ll learn the difference
between gross and net pay and the importance of fringe benefits such as
health insurance. There’s even a trivia game to challenge them.

skills needed to “Get That Job.” They’ll learn to write cover letters
and resumes, complete applications, and have successful interviews.

dealing successfully with customers and finally making it to the top.

how to fit in at a new job, how to work as a team, and how to get along
even with coworkers who drive them crazy.

creating a successful relationship with their boss or supervisor whether
they find themselves working for a good or bad boss.

Zane Discovers His Career
These activities follow Bill Zane from his high school
graduation through the beginning of his career as a young journalist,
and your students will help him make critical career decisions each step
of the way.
